This government project carried a unique set of challenges, from strict daily security vetting to the logistics of bringing a lift inside the building, which required removal of a full glass panel just to gain access. Once inside, our team worked more than 50 feet in the air, repairing extensive water damage and repainting the interior in crisp white to highlight the building’s architectural details.
Outside, the task was just as distinctive. Weyer Companies refinished the iconic 8-foot-tall medallion above the Post Office entry. Surprisingly, the hardest part wasn’t the finish itself but the removal and reinstallation of the massive eagle centerpiece. The existing coating had to be stripped with a specialized chemical before being refinished to resemble a coin. To ensure longevity, we applied a two-component black finish followed by a custom sealer, creating a durable and striking result that will withstand the elements for years to come.
